Italian Consulates
Locations, jurisdictions, and appointment scheduling
IMPORTANT: You must use the consulate which has jurisdiction over your permanent residence.
Scheduling a Citizenship Appointment
If you're considering applying for Italian dual citizenship through your local Italian Consulate, you must first create a Prenot@mi account. You can easily register online at: prenotami.esteri.it
Scheduling a citizenship appointment through a US Italian Consulate is often one of the most difficult parts of the Jure Sanguinis process. Consulate appointments are not always available to book. For many consulates, you will login to the scheduling portal and find all of the appointments have been taken.
Some consulates, such as New York, have moved to a wait list. If your consulate has a wait list, simply get in line and you'll be notified when it's your turn. The wait lists often have thousands of people in line, so you can expect a multi-year wait.
Consulate Fees (Subject to Change)
The Italian Government updates the EUR to USD exchange rate every quarter. The consular exchange rate is not based on the current market rate. Verify the consular exchange rate before purchasing a money order.
