A.I.R.E. Registration

The Registry of Italians Living Abroad

A.I.R.E.

What is A.I.R.E.?

A.I.R.E. stands for "Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all'Estero." It is mandatory for all Italian citizens living abroad to be registered in the portal. The good news is that it's extremely simple and easily accessible online!

Access A.I.R.E. Online

Navigate to A.I.R.E. using this link: serviziconsolari.esteri.it

If you've completed your citizenship recognition, you'll be told to create an online account through the "Fast It" website — that's the same link above!

What Life Events Must Be Registered?

You are required to maintain accurate records whenever a life event occurs. This includes:

  • Moving to a new address
  • Getting married or divorced
  • Having or adopting a child
  • Any other significant change in personal status

How It Works

When you are registered in A.I.R.E., your local consulate becomes the liaison between yourself and your "birth comune." You will mail or upload vital records to your consulate, and in turn the consulate will request that these records be registered with your comune in Italy.

Important: Register Your Children!

Be sure that if you have a child, you register them with your local consulate before they turn 18. If you fail to do so, they will need to complete a Jure Sanguinis citizenship process through the Italian Consulate or via applying in Italy should they wish to be recognized in the future.
